🍵 What is Matcha

Matcha is a type of green tea that is finely ground into powder. It originated in China during the Tang Dynasty (618-907) and was later introduced to Japan around 1190.

While matcha is traditionally enjoyed as a hot or cold beverage, it can also be used in recipes to add a bright and sweet tea flavor.

🌱 Matcha Health Benefits

Many studies agree on the fact that matcha powder is a superfood and provides many health benefits. Here are a few benefits of matcha:

  • It’s rich in antioxidants. Matcha and other green teas are high in antioxidants, which can reduce inflammation and prevent cell damage in the body.
  • It may give you healthier skin. Thanks to its high levels of methylxanthine and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), matcha helps stimulate collagen production and promote smoother skin.
  • It may prevent cancer. While studies do not all agree on that subject, a few state that matcha could potentially prevent colon cancer.
  • It may reduce stress. The L-theanine contained in matcha reduces stress levels while still giving you a boost of energy.
